Biography

Dr. Jacob D. Taunton is a spine specialist who recently completed his fellowship. Originally from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Dr. Taunton graduated Magna Cum Laude and with Honors from Auburn University with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. He remained at Auburn for medical school, graduating from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Auburn Campus with Honors and serving as Class President. He then completed his residency at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia.

During his residency, he developed an interest in spine surgery early in his training. He performed research on multiple topics in the field and is published in several peer-reviewed journals. He then received additional training through his integrated spine fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was trained with both orthopedic spine and neurosurgeons.

Dr. Taunton is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as well as the North American Spine Society and is a part of the esteemed international AO community as an AO fellow. He sub-specializes in multidirectional fusions, decompressions, and motion-sparing procedures in all areas of the spine.
