A native of South Texas, Dr. Ahuero grew up in Corpus Christi. He completed his undergraduate studies at Rice University in Houston followed by his medical education at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham followed by a fellowship in Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham.

Dr. Ahuero is Board Eligible with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is licensed to practice medicine in Texas and Alabama and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. His practice focus and areas of expertise are in the treatment of congenital, traumatic, and degenerative disorders of the ankle and foot including:
